RICHARD ENTERS DJMAG TOP100

CHECK IT OUT !!!!! :D

91: Richard Durand
STYLE: james@djmag.com
KNOWN FOR: My remixes for Tiësto, 'Lethal Industry', 'Flight 643' and 'Break My Fall', and my own tracks 'Make Me Scream', 'Ricohet' and 'Sweep And Repeat'.
TUNE OF 2007: First State vs Anit Kelsy's 'Falling'.
PRODUCER OF 2007: Sander van Doorn
BREAKTHROUGH DJ OF 2008: Pascal Feliz

Your musical inspiration? The tunes come to me when I'm fit and well rested! Best festival on the planet? Mysteryland in Holland and Sunrise Festival in Poland. Best bit of kit? My Apple notebook that I take with me all the time so I can make music on airplanes and in hotels. What tune makes you cry? I hate the track 'Heater' by Samim. Naughtiest thing you've done this year? I had sex with a girl who I then met again a few weeks later with an older friend of hers who I'd also had a nice night with a few months ago. The younger girl introduced me to her older friend and said, "This is my mother"…

"I've played for eight or nine years in Holland," says Dutchman Richard Durand of his career before 2007. "And Holland's not so big! Now I can play my music all round the world and that's really nice."
Breaking free from the confines of his homeland after remixing trance superstar Tiësto, a former Top 100 Winner, the last 12 months have seen a huge upswing in his career with a newfound international status to boot.
"I couldn't believe that everyone knows me and my tracks," beams Richard

With a wave of bookings, crowds have been going crazy for his sets, which consist almost entirely of his own productions, remixes and re-edits.
"I think it's better to play my own tracks," explains Richard. "It's not necessarily that they're better, but it's a more personal experience. And you're really sure that you're playing something different to the DJ before or after. I just do my own thing."

Such great news! Here's to breaking the TOP-5 next in 2008 (you'd better beleive it :)

To celebrate here's a decent new version of Richard's SMACK MY BITCH UP remix (courtesy of dj peach's well-chosen setlist)

Hi,

Yeah that vid would be much better if YouTube didn't force me to reduce the size of it to under 100 megs. Otherwise it would be much higher quality. Thanks for posting it on your blog. And kudos to Richard on his placing in the DJmag Poll this year.
